Biography

Tarini's childhood was largely spent in the city of Houston before she moved to Austin with her parents during her freshman year of undergrad. Though her initial passion for cancer treatment and research was geared toward medical school, she quickly found that computational medicine was her true calling. In order to pursue this path, Tarini joined the Computational Engineering undergraduate program at The University of Texas at Austin, which focused on numerical analysis, engineering, and computational science. During her time in this program, she worked closely with Dr. David Hormuth to build patient-specific mathematical models of glioblastoma progression driven by quantitative MRI. After graduating early, she took a gap year to travel and explore her hobbies. She also continued her work with Dr. Hormuth at the Center for Computational Oncology housed in the Oden Institute. Then, she joined the CSEM program in Fall 2023 to pursue her PhD.

Outside academics, Tarini enjoys attending New Life Austin, playing basketball, cooking, writing/composing/producing music, and spending time with her family and friends.
